The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL is one of the world's leading research institutions in the field of organic agriculture and employs around 300 people in Switzerland. FiBL's strengths are interdisciplinary research, joint innovations with farmers and the food industry as well as rapid knowledge transfer. FiBL Switzerland's expertise is also in demand beyond the country's borders. It is therefore involved in numerous international projects, research, extension and training, as well as development cooperation.

For the Department of Crop Sciences to start at the earliest possible we are looking for a qualified

Head of Department of Crop Sciences (80–100%)

Your Tasks

  • Strategic and operational management of the department with its seven specialised groups and around 60 researchers and advisors in the field of crop science
  • Co-design and implementation of FiBL's strategy as a member of the Executive Board
  • Representation of FiBL in matters of crop science
  • Acquisition of and involvement in research and development projects at national and European level

What you bring with you

  • Scientific education with a doctorate and a scientific profile in the field of crop science
  • Experience in participatory and transdisciplinary research and development with a close connection to agricultural practice and identification with organic farming
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and experience in project acquisition
  • Leadership experience of teams in the field of research, development or consulting
  • Good knowledge of the agricultural innovation and knowledge system in Switzerland and consulting experience are an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English. Knowledge of French is an advantage
